In today’s society, the management of any business cannot be imagined without a website. Any type of business will come to your mind, or any topic can be squeezed onto the site that all people see. If you are from those who do not yet have a website and you would like to have it, the simplest way is to get acquainted with creating a blog.
Creating a blog today is easier than ever and I will show you here the complete process of how to set up a blog and make money.
So let’s start.
Where Do I Start a Blog
I personally use two, Blogger and WordPress. Both of these platforms work on very similar principles, and if you learn how to make your blog on one, you will also apply it to the other. On this occasion, I’ll tell you how to create a blog on WordPress.
Although you can go directly to the WordPress site, if you want to make money with your blog, I suggest another solution like SiteRubix.
SiteRubix is free to use and runs through the Wealthy Affiliates program that will teach you how to make money on your blog. Just go to SiteRubix, enter the desired name for your blog and click on Build My Free Website.
Login To Your Website Back Office
In order to do this, you need to log into your website. This is very easy to do and can be done using the “Login!” button
This will automatically show you all your users you have associated with your website and from there you can log into your website.
Setting Up Blog – Theme for Your Blog
After you log in, you will see your WordPress administration dashboard on your website
If all of that look strange to you, don’t worry. After few times you’ll get used to it and even if you stuck somewhere you can contact me or get a ton of help from Wealthy Affiliate community.
On your left side menu click on Appearance > Themes
As a free member, you are limited to just a few of the thousands of themes, but it’s just enough for you to start your business. If in some moment you wish to get more professional themes, then maybe consider a premium membership. Choose the theme you like and don’t worry about pre-entered pages or posts, we’ll delete them.
On your left side menu click on Posts > All Posts
Select the post, go on it with your mouse pointer and click on Trash
Do the same with the “Pages” link as well.
If you prefer video material guidance, you can find it at under Getting Started section Lesson 5.
And if you want to change the settings of your theme you can do it through Appearance > Customize
If you make changes to your theme, every time you change something you need to click on Publish button which is above Customize section.
Setting Up Blog – SEO Ready
Your blog through SiteRubix come SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ready. That means that is already prepared to be indexed by major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it.
WordPress is the most powerful and widely used website platform in the world and it also has a wide range of “add-ons” (plugins) that you can use to extend the functionality of your website.
The blog comes with pre-installed two of the most useful plugins with your website automatically and your first step is going to be activating these plugins.
On your left side menu click on Plugins
You need to activate the “All in One SEO” and “EWW Image Optimizer” plugins. You can do that by clicking the “Activate” button
The All in One SEO plugin will take a bit of set-up which will do next.
After activated the All in One SEO you should see the “All in One SEO” item with your main menu now and click on General Settings.
Scroll down until you see Home Page Settings section. There are two sections that you will be updating there:
- Home Title – This is the title of your website that will show up when you get ranked in Google and other search engines. This won’t actually show up on your site.
You want this to reflect the actual title of your website that you created with your site, but also add something to make it a bit more captivating.
Ideal Length: 40-60 characters, keep under 60
- Home Description – This is a description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people. You just want to be descriptive as to what your site is all about.
Ideal Length: Under 160 characters
When you are done updating your Home Page Settings, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the “Keyword Settings” and check Use Tags for META keywords and Dynamically Generate Keywords for Posts Page/Archives and click the “Update Options” button.

You only create the About Me post, so check that and then Add to Menu. On the right side of Menu name enter: Main Manu. Under that, you have Menu Structure where you can arrange order by dragging items up and down or to the left if you want subfolder. After that, under Menu Settings check where you want your menu to appear on the blog and click Save Menu.

Most themes by default will add Pages to the top menu, but if not, you need to put them on your menu and some themes have more places where you want your menu to appear.
